Padmasree Late Ms. Thangam Philip, the world renowned food, catering and nutrition expert was the Principal Emiratus of the Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Bombay, the first and the largest in Asia.

She was one of the 38 distinguished women in the world and one of the 3 women in India who have been invited by the United Nations to be portrayed on the FAO Ceres' Medal.

She had written several books on cookery and hotel industry, which are prescribed texts for catering students.
